There is no one US body that handles every Bangalore University graduate. Depending on your goal you might deal with a general evaluator such as WES or ECE, a profession-specific one such as CGFNS (now TruMerit) for nurses, NCEES for engineers, or ECFMG/EPIC for physicians — and universities often evaluate transcripts themselves. Several of these require documents to be sent or verified directly by the issuing institution, and some (like ECE) will not accept documents issued by an affiliated college. This page explains those rules from each body's official guidance.

Documents you may need to prepare
Which of these you actually need depends on the receiving body — you should never prepare documents you don't need.
- Official transcript / semester marks cards prepared for the required channel
- Degree certificate (or provisional degree certificate)
- Consolidated marks card, where a single statement of results is preferred
- Passport and government ID for identity matching
- The evaluator's or board's reference number, once your file is open

A nurse, an engineer, a physician and a graduate-school applicant use different bodies. Pick yours first — it determines the rules.
Read that body's current document rules
WES, ECE, TruMerit, NCEES and ECFMG each publish their own requirements and update them. Work from the live rules for your case.
Prepare documents to the required channel
Several US bodies require the institution to send or source-verify documents directly. Prepare to that exact standard.
Allow for direct verification
Where a body verifies with the University, the University's response is a matter to confirm per application.
Agency & evaluation pathways
Each body sets its own document rules. Preparing to the right standard the first time avoids re-work.
WES & ECE
Both evaluate foreign credentials, but they are not interchangeable. WES asks that your records be issued by the degree-awarding institution and delivered per your WES Required Documents instructions — direct delivery is commonly preferred, but forwarding an institution-sealed envelope may be permitted and secure electronic transmission may be available (WES Canada and WES USA are separate use-cases; follow the tool for your application). ECE is stricter on source: its India guidance states documents must be issued by the university or an autonomous college, and that documents issued (or emailed) by affiliated colleges are not acceptable. Confirm which body your university, employer or board accepts before preparing anything.
CGFNS / TruMerit (nurses)
CGFNS International now operates as TruMerit. Its guidance states that transcripts must be sent directly to TruMerit by the schools or organisations authorised to store them, and that applicant-submitted copies are not accepted. Because nursing licensure is state-specific, the exact product you need depends on the state board you are targeting.
NCEES & ECFMG/EPIC
NCEES (engineers) states official transcripts must be received directly from the institution and will not be accepted from any other source. ECFMG/EPIC (physicians) primary-source verifies each credential directly with the issuing medical school. Both are verification-led and differ markedly from a general evaluation.

Graduate-school applicants
Many US universities want an official transcript sent directly by the University and may run their own evaluation rather than accept an outside one. Check each programme's instructions.
Nurses
US nursing licensure generally involves a CGFNS/TruMerit credentials evaluation plus English-language evidence set by the state board — a Medium of Instruction letter does not automatically satisfy that English requirement.
Engineers & physicians
NCEES (engineering) and ECFMG/EPIC (medicine) run their own verification-led processes; academic documents are prepared to their specific standard, not a generic one.
Common problems & delays
- Assuming one agency serves everyone — the US has no single evaluator for all professions
- Submitting affiliated-college documents to ECE, which requires the university or an autonomous college
- Preparing a general evaluation when a state board actually needs a profession-specific one
- English-test requirements being overlooked because an MOI letter was assumed to be enough
- Name or college-vs-university mismatches delaying identity and authenticity checks
Things worth checking
Older records
US bodies frequently verify authenticity with the issuing university, so older Bangalore University records can add time. Name mismatches
US evaluators and boards are strict about identity. Differences between your marks cards, degree and passport — expanded initials, changed surname order, a maiden name — can hold up verification. Resolve or document any mismatch before you submit, not after a query is raised.
College vs University
Your programme may have been taught at an affiliated college, but the transcript and degree are issued by Bangalore University. This matters concretely in the US: ECE states that documents issued by affiliated colleges are not acceptable — they must come from the university or an autonomous college. Submit the University-issued documents, and name the affiliated college only where a form asks.
Getting authenticity right
Most US evaluators and boards establish authenticity through their own channel — direct-from-institution (WES, NCEES, TruMerit), primary-source verification (ECFMG/EPIC), or evaluation of documents that must originate from the university (ECE) — rather than through legalisation, so an apostille is usually not part of a US evaluation.
